María Dolores Hernández receives the XX Anonymous Solidarity Award for her health cooperation campaigns (12/12/2019)

María Dolores Hernández Palazón has received on Wednesday the 'XX Anonymous Solidarity Award 2019' for her health cooperation campaigns in some of the poorest and most forgotten regions of Africa.

The event took place in the Hemicycle of the Merced Campus and was attended, among others, by José Luján, rector of the UMU, and Isabel Franco, Minister of Women, Equality, LBTBI, Families and Social Policy of the CARM.

The prize, convened by the Faculty of Social Work of the University of Murcia and the Volunteer Platform of the Region of Murcia with the support of the Antonio Campillo Foundation, the Cajamurcia Foundation and the City of Murcia, is intended to recognize the activity solidarity, humanitarian and disinterested carried out regularly by natural persons and by social entities that have not received public recognition.

The greater anonymity of the candidates and entities in their work and altruistic and solidary trajectory is especially valued.

Loli Hernández Palazón

He completed the Nursing Diploma in the University School of the former Provincial Hospital (San Juan de Dios) of Murcia.

In 1985 he began working in the Surgical Area of ​​the Virgen de la Arrixaca City of Sanitation while obtaining the specialties of Psychiatry, Clinical Analysis and the title of ATS Puericultora.

In 2000 he found a way to combine his health knowledge with his solidarity values ​​and his vocation to help others by founding, together with the surgeon José Manuel Rodríguez, a small association that would later become the NGO Solidarity Surgery.

To organize, maintain, finance and grow this association has dedicated the last 20 years, being probably one of the events that produces more pride.

With this group he has participated in some thirty health campaigns in some of the most disadvantaged regions of Africa such as Mali, Tindouf (Algeria), Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Senegal or the border area of ​​Kenya with Ethiopia and Somalia.

In 2005, after completing his studies in Advertising and Public Relations, he understood the need to sensitize the entire Region of Murcia and, in particular, to hospital centers, with the projects he developed in his NGO.

To this end, she managed to create a Voluntary and Corporate Social Responsibility Service at the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Hospital, which, as of today, continues to be coordinator.

Since then she has been an organizer, moderator and participant in numerous scientific meetings, conferences and conferences related to international development cooperation, volunteering and surgical nursing.

Loli Hernández Palazón is currently the supervisor of the Sterilization Area and the Emergency Room of the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Hospital, where she also works as a surgical nurse.

She is also an anesthesia assistant nurse in the liver transplant team of said center and tutor of clinical practices of the UMU Nursing Degree.
