Start the participatory process of diagnosis for the development of the Local Strategy of Circular Economy (13/10/2019)

The City of Murcia, coordinated by the Department of Urban Agenda and Open Government directed by Mercedes Bernabé, has begun the process of public participation of the diagnosis for the development of the Local Strategy of Circular Economy.

In this way, the 1st phase begins to obtain the opinion of all the agents involved in the process that will begin with the municipal technicians table.

This process is carried out simultaneously with the one already started, of compilation and analysis of the relevant documentation.

“This stage intends to know this public opinion as a starting point in order to stimulate the behavioral changes necessary to promote the development of a circular economy, as well as to perform a qualitative analysis in order to adopt the principles of the sameâ€, highlights the mayor.

The opinion of employees of the city council, and later of companies that provide municipal services, business fabric and experts will be obtained through the celebration of sectoral tables, which will aim to qualitatively assess the problems, strengths and opportunities detected, while suggest some new ones, so that a hierarchy could be established in the problems to be solved and the actions to be implemented.

Thus, the first Municipal Board will have the internal participation of public employees for the identification of developed actions, problems encountered and the search for development opportunities.

For its part, the Business Roundtable, which will be developed later, will have the presence of those companies with the greatest potential to apply technologies, solutions and principles of the Circular Economy that operate in any of the priority sectors identified, in order to assess the degree of implementation of circular economy policies and of the technologies contemplated in the documents that include the Best Available Techniques, contained in the Community regulations on industrial emissions.

Finally, the Bureau of Experts will have the participation of, among others, technology centers, universities, associations and professional associations with experience in the field of circular economy.

The Councilor for Urban Agenda says that "the holding of the sectoral tables, as well as the ways for citizens to send their comments and proposals will be communicated soon."

In short, the mayor recalls that what is intended is that "this strategy serves as the engine of the necessary change to achieve economic growth based on the conservation and protection of the environment, which contributes to the improvement of the quality of life in the cities, satisfying the present needs without compromising the future ones ".
