The Muher take 3,000 m2 of Huertana essence to the heart of China (21/09/2019)

The city of Nanning hosts the inauguration of the Silk Garden, a Mediterranean creation designed by artists Manuel Herrera and Francisca Muñoz, whose composition is based on the heritage left by the silk trade in Murcia.

José Ballesta and the Nanning authorities and the Guangxi region sign the Friendship Relations Agreement, for the tourist and commercial promotion of the city of Murcia with southern China.

The Nanning National Garden, a Chinese city with 5 million inhabitants located in the Guangxi region, has 100% Murcian essence, thanks to the artists Manuel Herrera and Francisca Muñoz, creators of the Muher architecture studio, located in Totana.

Baptized as the Silk Garden-Murcia Mediterranean, this space has been inaugurated today in an event that has been attended by the Muher and the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta.

This initiative boosts the cultural exchange between Murcia and the Guangxi region, localities separated by more than 10,000 kilometers, which today signed the Friendship Relations Agreement, for the tourism and commercial promotion of the city of Murcia with southern China.

Murcia's influence is recognized in the forms of the elements that make up this Garden, whose surface area exceeds 3,000m2.

The pergola and the pavilion simulate an ancient silk loom.

The surrounding vegetation is made up of olive trees, cypresses and palm trees, species also present in the Region.

These three trees also coexist in the park with other species typical of the Mediterranean basin, such as lavender, bougainvillea and jacarandas, as well as fruit trees of orange and lemon trees, among others.

Water also takes center stage in this environment, since it has a set of ditches that evoke the Murcian garden.

"The Murcia Brand, the essence of its gardens and its Garden, is projected in the heart of China, through this Silk Garden created by the Muher," said the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta.

Bilateral relations of Murcia with the Asian giant

Murcia and Nanning will strengthen ties by signing the Friendship Relations Agreement between both locations, which will take place this afternoon.

The governor of the city of Nanning, Zhou Hongbo, and the mayor of the city of Murcia, José Ballesta, sign this agreement, in order to consolidate and develop friendly cooperation, as well as strengthen institutional relations between Murcia and China.

“This Corporation understands the institutional relations with the outside as an opportunity for the tourist and commercial promotion of the municipality of Murcia and the establishment of concrete lines of work,†says José Ballesta.

Through this agreement, both cities will develop exchanges and cooperate in the fields of agriculture, tourism, landscaping, education, economy, commerce, culture, science and technology.

They will also maintain regular contact between the leaders and the appropriate departments.

Murcia also maintains institutional links with the Chinese city of Weifang (9 million inhabitants), located in Shandong Province.

The Muher, ambassadors of Murcia

Pseudonym of Francisca Muñoz and Manuel Herrera, the Muher are a couple of multifaceted artists who began their professional career in the early eighties, developing different disciplines, such as architecture, photography, sculpture and advertising.

In 2018, they were appointed Ambassadors of the Region of Murcia;

title that recognizes the international success of his study, in which the landscape and the idiosyncrasy of Murcia have been a claimed source of inspiration, acquiring a special role.

The Muher studio, in addition, is developing other projects in China, related to the Tomato Museum in the Chinese town of Taiwan, being art, again, the vehicle that will transport the Murcia garden to the Asian continent.

On this occasion, the union between both cultures will be carried out through a monographic museum.

Another of the projects developed in Asia is the design of a new logistics headquarters for fruits and vegetables.
