The University of Murcia presented this Friday the program of welcome activities for the more than 800 international students who will study at the UMU during the 2019-2020 academic year, at an event held at the Romea Theater.

Until next October 6 there will be a series of activities with which new students can meet and enjoy both the institution and the city of Murcia.

These include tourist visits to Murcia and Cartagena, down the Segura river, tapas night, Spanish film session, linguistic tandem, a trip to Granda, etc.

Throughout this academic year, nearly 2,000 incoming and outgoing students will participate in international mobility programs managed by the UMU International Relations area.

Specifically, the institution will receive 630 foreign students during the first four-month period, to which 200 more will be added in January.

On the part of the UMU, about 850 students will make their stays in the more than 300 European, American, Asian and African partner universities.

Most of these students belong to the Erasmus + Studies program, with more than 700 students from the UMU who will study at European universities, while more than 600 European students will do so at our university.

Regarding Latin America, the mobility is mainly with the program of Exchange with Latin America (ILA), in which 81 Murcia students will participate.

For the same program, the University of Murcia will receive more than 50 students.

In addition, the UMU has agreements with different ministries and institutions through which it receives scholars from Latin America.

Mobility with the United States, which is carried out mainly through the ISEP program, has increased this course to 13 students leaving and 22 arriving thanks to new agreements with American universities.

From Asian countries, and mainly through the agreement with the Communication University of China, the UMU will have 31 new students.

In addition, one more student will be received and sent thanks to the agreement with the Taiwanese University of Tamkang.

The 'Erasmus + International Mobility' program will allow this course to receive 29 students from different countries of the world, such as Angola, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Burkina Faso, Indonesia, Morocco, Thailand, Tunisia and Vietnam.

With this same program, 4 UMU students will study in Armenia, Israel and Thailand.

Under the Erasmus + Internship program, it is estimated that up to a hundred students from the UMU will travel throughout the course to stay in European companies.

On the other hand, the Faculty of Education will offer 13 internships in Argentina and France.

The BUMI is organized by the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization of the University of Murcia, with the collaboration of the City of Murcia and the international student association Erasmus Student Network (ESN).

During the event, the rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján, highlighted the great work of the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization and all the people who are part of the UMU International Relations team for all their work for the internationalization of the University of Murcia and for the celebration of this act of welcome to the study center.
