The Councilor for the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, has initiated a round of visits to the social centers of the municipality to know their situation and promote a plan for renovation and improvement of their facilities and services.
During the visit made today to the senior center of San José de la Vega, where he has met with members of the Board of Directors, the mayor Paqui Pérez has collected some of his demands, such as the improvement of the exterior lighting of the social center and provision of shade in the petanque area.
One of the bets of the Department of the Elderly is to transform the 76 senior centers to make them more accessible and friendly places capable of attracting a greater number of members.
In this regard, the person in charge of Mayores recalled that "there are currently more than 30,000, but we will work to reach 90,000 Murcia with more than 60 years living in the municipality of Murcia, diversifying the offer of activities and coordinating the work together with the Federation of the Elderly, so that they feel our support ". The renovation plan of the centers for the elderly includes a substantial improvement of accessibility, installation of shading areas outside, arrangement of facades and window reforms and doors, among other performances.
The Department of Seniors is scheduled to convene from September the Mesa del Mayor to give voice to all groups and associations of seniors in Murcia and work in a coordinated manner with the aim of promoting their participation and implementing policies that improve their quality of lifetime.
