The conclusion of the Local Path of the Contraparada puts an end to the works of the Visitor Center (13/08/2019)

These new facilities will open to the public next September |

The Councilor for Sustainable Development and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, and the Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, have visited this morning the place of the Contraparada where the route of the new local path SL MU-27 has already been marked.

In this signposted itinerary, of 1.84 kilometers and circular layout, a total of 20 interpretative signs have been installed that refer to the landscape, natural and heritage values of this important enclave of the Huerta de Murcia.

Thus, through these panels, visitors will discover which plant species are part of the riverside forests, which are the main bird species that we can observe along the route, where the two largest ditches of Murcia are born or what architectural elements They formed one of the most important hydraulic engineering works on the Segura River, among other aspects.

In addition to the interpretive signals, the local path has been provided with directional signaling.

The itinerary also has a new video guide system that can be requested at the Visitor Center.

It includes multimedia content that provides additional information to the informational signals installed in the route, in addition to including a map with the points of interest in which, thanks to a geolocation system, the position of the visitor is indicated in real time.

With the completion of the elements that make up the MU27 Local Path, the conditioning works of the new Contraparada Visitor Center are completed.

This equipment presents the historical, social and heritage values of both the Contraparada, as well as the Murcia orchard and the Segura river.

The building consists of two floors.

On the ground floor there is the visitor reception space, in which information will be provided both on the visit to the Center, and on the route along the outer path.

In addition, it has a large audiovisual presentation and a large multipurpose room.

On the first floor are the different museum areas in which the visit is organized:

The first field makes a complete journey through the history of the Segura River and its Huerta.

Among other resources, in this area a videomapping projection on a model of the garden of Murcia explains the ditch network.

A second area that shows traditional cultivation techniques, local varieties, biodiversity in crops, the use of auxiliary and ornamental plants, the main products of the Huerta de Murcia and local cuisine.

In it we find different interactive elements and models that complement the information contained in the panels.

A space in which, through audiovisuals, there is a tour of the Huerta culture and in which we can all participate.

And finally an area dedicated to the environmental values of the river and the garden.

On this floor there is also a self-recording space where visitors can tell and record their personal experiences related to the Garden.

A selection of these recordings can be viewed both on the web and in the Visitor Center itself.

These facilities aim to bring all the people who visit the environmental, historical and cultural values that they have made, both from La Contraparada and the Segura River and from the Huerta de Murcia, a unique and highly interesting landscape.

According to forecasts, its opening to the public will take place next September.
