Javalí Nuevo will premiere its pavilion with ecological pavement and low-energy bulbs in September (13/08/2019)

An investment close to 50,000 euros has allowed replacing the old pavement with a new sustainable material and high performance in an area of more than 1,110m2.

José Ballesta: "Murcia is one of the Spanish capitals with the highest number of sports facilities per inhabitant, with a total of 423 covered and outdoor spaces throughout the municipality, and an offer that exceeds 42,500 seats."

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, visited the municipal sports hall of Javalí Nuevo, where this week the pavement remodeling works with ecological materials and high performance are being carried out on an area of more than 1,110 m2.

“Murcia is one of the Spanish capitals with the highest number of sports facilities per inhabitant, with a total of 423 covered and outdoor spaces throughout the municipality, and an offer that exceeds 42,500 seats,” explained José Ballesta who indicated that “ we are taking advantage of the summer to undertake the larger works, without interfering with the activity of sports and school schools ”.

Specifically, the rehabilitation of this sports center, located on the Javalí Nuevo road, began three weeks ago, with a budget of almost 50,000 euros.

The works have consisted of the dismantling of the old pavement, which has been replaced by an ecological material, which will prevent the occurrence of puddles of moisture in the facilities, located in an area of Huerta.

Inaugurated in 2008, the pavilion will open its doors in September, at which time residents can fully enjoy the renovated sports center.

1.110m2 of ecological material

Thanks to these works, the complete replacement of the floor of the pavilion has been carried out, since the conditions in which it was located did not allow the proper development of sports activities.

Due to the environment in which, surrounded by an orchard, the previous pavement, made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) material, was decomposed due to changes in temperature and humidity, causing puddles on the surface.

Specifically, it has been replaced by ecological rubber and polyurethane flooring, a material that does not emit harmful vapors or generate waste.

The new pavement has been placed in a total of 1,110 square meters, on an anti-humidity sheet, with a budget of 47,432 euros.

Perfect leveling and 36 energy efficient light bulbs

Another benefit of this new ecological material is the perfect leveling achieved through its use, leaving the surface of the pavilion completely flat.

On the other hand, the City Council replaced the old projectors of the center with about 36 low-energy bulbs three months ago, with the aim of saving 75% of electricity consumption.

In the pavilion, which has mobile stands with a capacity of 100 people, the following sports can be practiced in a regulated manner: basketball, volleyball, futsal and handball.

The Tocinos Bridge pavilion also faces its final stretch

Currently, in addition, works are being carried out to remodel the Tocinos Bridge pavilion, with an amount of 48,299.07 euros, for the replacement of the pavement, to which 17,427 euros and a grant of 7,000 euros from the Autonomous Community are added intended for the installation of 30 energy efficient light bulbs.

Both Puente Bacinos and Javalí Viejo will premiere their pavilions in September.

The City Council is also repairing the roofs of nine municipal pavilions eliminating the leaks they presented.
