The facade of the Moneo Building will light up turquoise morning to commemorate the National Day of Spanish Sign Languages (13/06/2019)

The façade of the Annex Building of the Town Hall will light up turquoise tomorrow to commemorate the National Day of Spanish Sign Languages, responding to a request sent by FESORMU with the aim of drawing the attention of society as a whole towards the deaf and deafblind people, who freely choose to use this language.

The Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, in collaboration with the Social Rights and Development Cooperation, led by Rebeca Pérez and Conchita Ruiz, carry out this initiative with the aim of contributing to share and promote the dissemination of these long-minority languages, which are the best tool not only to build equality, but also to promote measures to normalize their use beyond the domestic, educational or socio-health fields.

It is also a measure that will serve to recall the need to join efforts in each and every area so that these people can exercise their rights as citizens.

The Federation of Deaf People of the Region of Murcia (FESORMU), a reference entity in the Region in terms of care for deaf people, has as a priority mission to achieve full inclusion in society of deaf, deafblind and their families, through the defense of their rights, the strengthening of their associative movement and the accessibility to communication, with the value of the Sign Language.
