In addition, the Department of Modernization and Urban Development has also incorporated new technologies into the park, allowing users to interact with the different elements and spaces that comprise it.

This green area has a direct connection to the new river promenade, whose works are being executed by the City Council and will end before the summer.

The project of social and environmental recovery 'Murcia River' is integrated by the Alameda del Malecón inaugurated today, which must be added the Alameda de las Cuatro Piedras already open, the bike path of the river, the intelligent lighting of the channel installed throughout its urban stretch;

as well as the actions that are currently being executed, such as the right and left banks of the river, the next Riverwalk and the Visitors Center of La Contraparada;

and the upcoming projects: the Terrazas del Río and the Urban Park 'Murcia Río'.

"The Alameda connects the Paseo del Malecón with the mote of the river and the city with the Huerta, recovering a disused space next to the highway that opens up to Murcia as a natural area that recovers our roots and our identity", explained the mayor, who stressed that "a circular circuit is created between the Malecón and the Segura of tens of kilometers of green spaces".

Games for children and night lighting

With an investment of 629,000 euros, the works of the Alameda Garden involve the recovery of the irrigation ditch of La Arboleja, which provides water, through this traditional irrigation system, to the various terraces with vegetation on the plot and the avenue, as well as the revegetation of the embankment of the highway.

The park has new furniture and a large playground.

The environment has night lighting.

Advances in the river walk 'Murcia Río'

With respect to the works of the new river promenade 'Murcia River' is completing the structure for the new mota or platform flush with the water level on the left bank, at the height of the Manterola footbridge, which will allow the walk along the river , recovering the naturalization and accessibility to the Segura shore.

This itinerary, which establishes a new connection of the city with the Huerta, will connect the existing area between the Manterola footbridge and the Alameda del Malecón, on the other side of the highway, through the creation of a promenade that will allow you to 'see the Segura' and It will stand slightly above the river and offer a direct view of its channel, as an alternative route to the Malecón.

The river terraces are already in tender

It is the most important urban performance of Murcia River.

It includes the creation of a wooded park of 4,200 m2 and a leisure area.

It will open a new access to the river next to the Puente de Hierro with a gentle slope that will allow maximum accessibility, the descent of boats, bicycles or simply for the ride next to the canal.

The aim is to recover the historical relationship that kept the city and the Segura River in the past, returning the protagonism that over the years was losing.

Overflowed on the river bed, terraces are projected in which areas of stay and observation are located, as well as a kiosk bar that serves this area.

The pillars that sustain these terraces will resemble a cane that is integrated next to the trunks of palm trees in the river landscape and extend over them holding a large translucent "parasols" of methacrylate.

The project is in tender after being approved by the last Governing Board in September, with a maximum budget of 3,752,091 euros and a term of one year.

Right and left margin, will end before summer

The adequacy of the right bank of the Segura River will allow the creation of a recreational path of more than 1,500 meters in length, from the Molinos del Río to La Fica.

The project contemplates revegetation with a total of 165 trees and 4,124 shrub species.

The project has just been awarded February this February and will be completed before summer.

With regard to the left bank, 231 trees and 6,380 shrub species will be planted.

The action -also awarded this February and whose work will end before the summer- provides a special concrete paving in the descent of each stair so that pedestrians who cross the bike lane to access the pedestrian promenade can do so safely.

Contraparada Visitor Center, will open this spring

It will be a point of reference for the dissemination of the natural, cultural, landscape and historical legacy of the Huerta de Murcia, will have the latest innovations and will offer information to learn about the origins of La Huerta and La Contraparada, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest.

The property, whose adequacy and provision of equipment has a cost of 340,000 euros and a deadline of 9 months, will open this spring as an interactive museum of the Huerta.

Urban Park, a project agreed with the 'skaters'

The adaptation of the urban park in the Artillery Barracks will mean the creation of a 'Skate Park' integrated into the environment, thus recovering the space currently wasted on the underground parking deck.

Several meetings with groups and associations have been held and soon the final project agreed with the future users will be presented.

The murcianos return to look at their river

To the set of actions in march it is necessary to add the social recovery of the Segura, through the celebration of hundreds of activities, spectacles and events, between which they emphasize pioneering initiatives as the cinema outdoors next to the river, the regatta City of Murcia , which has already been consolidated as a first level sporting event in the national scope, the water ski exhibitions in the Segura or the cultural shows in the different bridges.
