The PSOE regrets the impassivity of those responsible for the PP before a heritage such as the UCAM to be protected (18/01/2019)

Enrique Ayuso, who announces a motion for this Plenary, demands that the City Council oppose the exceptional legalization of buildings built in an irregular manner and without an activity license in the vicinity of the Los Jerónimos BIC.

The Municipal Socialist Group is going to defend a motion in the next Plenary session in order to demand clarity with the whole process to try to legalize the buildings built by the Catholic University and, above all, "to demand that a final decision be made in accordance with the reports prepared by the technicians who comply with the protection of the surroundings of the monastery of the Jerónimos ".

Councilman Enrique Ayuso echoes the information that indicates that the technicians warned that the constructions made by the UCAM altered the architectural and landscape character of the monument, so it states that "this situation is a real perversion, where one commits a supposed illegality and far from trying to stop it, the PP in the Autonomous Community is dedicated to circling because their desire is to legalize the works against technical reports, while the PP in the City Council is based on the social interest of buildings and that that the Town Planning Department itself considered them illegal ".

From the PSOE, points out Ayuso, "all the bad thing that this University or any other institution or institution located in the municipality does is the City Council's fault for dropping their arms and not being vigilant with what is done in their territory"

For Ayuso, "compliance with the Law is the same for everyone and, if possible, with greater demand for public and private institutions."

"It would not make any sense," he added, "that the full weight of the law be applied to minor urban development infractions, such as building a shed or expanding a tooling room and at the same time legalizing more than a dozen Buildings that occupy thousands of square meters and that do not have any license. "

And, he added that, therefore, "neither do they have the necessary activity license to perform their academic or service functions".

Finally, Enrique Ayuso recalled that, specifically, eleven buildings are built without a license on a protected garden plot and also within the BIC environment of the Jerónimos de Guadalupe Monastery on which the UCAM has requested its exceptional authorization of legalization in 2015 In addition, it must be remembered that two other previous buildings already had an exceptional first authorization in 2011, but nevertheless they are also in an irregular situation when the UCAM does not fulfill its commitment to demolish the rest of the buildings.

Also that the own public prosecutor's office of the Superior Court of Justice of Murcia has opened a judicial investigation on these constructions.

Therefore, the councilman will demand in the motion that the City Council oppose the exceptional legalization of buildings built in an irregular manner around the Jerónimos Monastery and without an activity license.
