The acquisition of the hillside will allow the rehabilitation of the Castle of Monteagudo, germ of the'La fortaleza del Rey Lobo' (18/10/2018)

The City Council takes a fundamental step to obtain the 60,000 square meters, essential to be able to locate the three cranes necessary for recovery work.

This agreement is added to that adopted in summer to get the land of the Castillejo and the Larache Pool.

The road to make the Archaeological Park of Monteagudo a reality, 'The Fortress of the Rey Lobo', has today taken a fundamental step with the approval by the Commission of Urbanism and Environment of the file to obtain the lands of the hillside of the Castle of Monteagudo, something necessary to undertake the rehabilitation of the Castle.

The agreement affects an area of ​​60,333 square meters, distributed in 56 plots, which add to the 35,000 square meters of Castillejo and Larache Pool, better known as 'El Hondón', whose acquisition was launched last summer , and it is the only construction of the Monteagudo complex of private property, since the Castle of Monteagudo belongs to the State and that of Larache to the Autonomous Community.

The hillside project of the Castle has a budget of 1,531,000 euros and when these lands are acquired it will be possible to install the necessary cranes to act on the construction and proceed to its restoration.

With this acquisition, the acquisition by public administrations of all the strengths of the Monteagudo complex is completed, which will allow the value of the existing complex to be valued due to its archaeological, cultural, patrimonial and tourist relevance, making one of the major planned projects a reality. the one of Murcia Islamic, in which it constitutes a fundamental axis Monteagudo and its strengths.

The disposition of the land is a fundamental advance for the development of the Monteagudo Master Plan, which marks the road map for the recovery and enhancement of this Castle erected by the King Wolf in the eleventh century.

In this sense, having this area will not only provide a greater area of ​​action for the recovery of the Castle of Monteagudo and its surroundings, but also serve as useful when performing restoration and consolidation of this construction and the Christ.
