Social Rights collaborates with three entities to develop projects of integral attention to women in prostitution and trafficking processes (23/09/2018)

Today, April 23, International Day against Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking in Persons, the Department of Social Rights, which Conchita Ruiz directs, recalls that the City Council continues to support the work and action of the entities of the municipality that intervene with collectives of women in prostitution and trafficking processes, through the establishment of collaboration agreements that entail economic endowment for the development of projects of integral care, reception and social reintegration of this group.

In collaboration with the Cepaim Foundation, and framed in the area of ​​activities to raise awareness and prevent violence against women, the Department has scheduled the premiere of the documentary 'El Proxeneta', directed by Mabel Lozano.

This premiere will have the presence of the filmmaker and documentary maker Mabel Lozano and the protagonist of the documentary.

It will take place on October 25, at 8:00 pm, at Centrofama Cinemas and access will be free, after withdrawal of invitation, requesting it at crees@cepaim.org.

Currently the City Council grants a global aid of 87,000 euros to three associations with these objectives: Association for the Prevention, Reintegration and Care of Prostituted Women, the Oblate Community of the Most Holy Redeemer of Murcia and CATS

Thus, the Association for the Prevention, Reintegration and Care of Prostituted Women carries out a project to provide the collective with an integral resource of listening, support and accompaniment in case of emergency, carrying out an individualized intervention process that includes psychological aspects, legal, social, training, labor, through support and comprehensive care with specific programs and adapted to their situation.

In addition, they offer the collective the possibility of leaving the circle of prostitution and trafficking, through real work alternatives and adapted to the psychosocial and professional profile of the person.

APRAMP, is a national association formed in 1989, with a delegation in Murcia, which directs its intervention to women and girls who suffer sexual exploitation and trafficking in human beings, so that they recover their freedom and dignity by asserting their rights and achieving the necessary autonomy to undertake a life outside the control and abuse of its exploiters.

During 2017, 310 people visited the APRAMP Reception Center in Murcia.

On the other hand, it collaborates with the Oblate Community of the Most Holy Redeemer of Murcia to develop the initiative "Get to know, search and find" a pre-employment skills workshop.

The project aims to promote the ongoing training of women, based on the recognition of the situation of injustice in which some of them live.

Thus, women are trained in personal, social and work skills to achieve their socio-labor insertion, self-knowledge tools are offered for the discovery of personal skills and individualized itineraries are designed to achieve labor insertion.

12 women participated in the program, of which 33% have achieved job placement.

Finally, the City Council, through the Department of Social Rights and Sports and Health, grants an aid of 50,000 euros to CATS.

This entity works in different levels of care such as an emergency telephone 24 hours 365 days, exits to places of prostitution, processing of social benefits or benefits, intervention with minors, medical consultation, workshops for sex workers, search for alternative work, volunteering...

During 2017, CATS assisted 1,354 people, who received more than 6,500 attentions.

The International Day Against Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking in Persons is commemorated on September 23.

It was established by the World Conference of the Coalition against Trafficking in Persons in coordination with the Women's Conference that took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh in January 1999. It was on September 23, in 1913, when the first norm was promulgated legal in the world against child prostitution: the pioneer country was Argentina with the so-called "Palacios Law".

In Spain in 2009, the First Comprehensive Plan against Trafficking (2009-2011) was approved.

Subsequently, the Comprehensive Plan to Combat Trafficking in Women and Girls for the Purpose of Sexual Exploitation 2015-2018 was approved.
